No longer are we confined to books, magazines, newspapers, radio, and television. There is a huge movement today of Catholics in new media. The newest and most exciting type of new media is in the form of podcasting, in which information and entertainment are combined for download onto your computer and mp3 player.

Podcasting gives everyone a voice, which is very exciting. A word of caution though, one needs to be careful about which information is trusted from the huge volume that is available.

There are tons of Catholic podcasts in production right now, and I’ve even considered working on one of my own. I haven’t yet decided if there is a need, but I’ve been recording music with a PC for many years, and I have a lot of opinions, so it sounds like a perfect fit! For the moment, the best collection of Catholic podcasts, both audio and video, can be found at SQPN. Fr. Roderick, with help from others including the folks from Rosary Army and The SaintCast, have done a tremendous job providing exciting content for the techno-savvy Catholic.
